Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Alvora LLC ("Alvora", "we", "us", or "our") collects when you use alvora.llc and our courses and services (the "Services"), how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain English on purpose, because that is the whole spirit of Alvora.

The short version: we collect what we need to run a learning site (your account details, your messages to us, and standard usage analytics), we do not sell your personal information, we do not run advertising, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing info@alvora.llc.

1. Information you give us

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, which means we cannot read them. We do not ask for a physical address, phone number, or date of birth to create an account.

Messages and contact form submissions. When you contact us through the contact form or by email, we receive what you send: typically your name, email address, subject, message, and optionally your company name. Contact form submissions are stored in our content management system so our team can respond and keep track of the conversation.

Payment information: none. All courses are currently free. We do not request, collect, or store payment card details or any other payment information. If we introduce paid courses in the future, payments will be handled by a dedicated payment processor and this policy will be updated before that launches.

2. Information collected automatically

Server and log data. Like nearly every website, our infrastructure receives standard technical data with each request: your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, the pages you request, the time of the request, and the referring page. Our hosting provider uses this data to serve the site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.

Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate: which pages and courses people visit, how they found us, roughly where visitors are located (at a city or country level, derived from IP), and what devices they use. To be transparent about how this works today: these tools load by default when you visit the site, and we do not currently show a cookie consent banner, so this measurement is active unless you block it (see "Your choices" below for how). Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to recognize returning browsers. We use this data only in aggregate, to decide things like which courses to build next.

Three things we deliberately do not do with analytics: we have not enabled Google Signals or any Google advertising features; we do not use analytics data to build advertising or marketing profiles of individual users; and we do not connect analytics data to your account identity. You can read about how Google processes this data at policies.google.com/privacy, and Google also documents its safeguards at google.com/policies/privacy/partners.

Embedded videos. Some lessons embed videos hosted on YouTube, a Google service. The embed loads from YouTube's servers, and when you view or play a video, YouTube may set its own cookies and collect viewing data under Google's privacy policy, independently of us.

Fonts. Our pages load the Poppins and Inter typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser fetches those font files from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request, as it would for any file download. Google states that Font requests are not used for profiling and are kept separate from other Google services.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to: provide the Services, including creating and administering your account, keeping you signed in, and showing you your courses; respond to your messages and support requests, which we aim to do within two business days; understand how the Services are used in aggregate, so we can improve courses and fix problems; secure the Services, including detecting abuse, debugging errors, and protecting accounts; and comply with legal obligations.

If we introduce optional email updates in the future (for example, new course announcements), we will ask you to opt in first, and every such email will contain a working unsubscribe link. We do not send marketing email today.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing on our site for universal opt-out signals (such as Global Privacy Control) to opt you out of; we honor the spirit of those signals by not engaging in the practices they target in the first place.

4. Who processes data on our behalf

We keep our list of service providers deliberately short. The following providers process data for us as part of running the Services: Vercel (website hosting and delivery, United States), Neon (database hosting for accounts, content, and contact messages, United States), Amazon Web Services (storage and delivery of images and downloadable course files, United States), and Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Fonts, and YouTube embeds, as described above). Each of these providers processes data under its own security and data protection commitments, and only as needed to provide its service to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it (for example, in response to a valid legal process), to protect the rights, safety, or property of Alvora or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information until it is updated.

5. Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies. Essential cookies: when you sign in, we set an authentication cookie so you stay signed in as you move between pages. The site's sign-in feature does not work without it. Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and related identifiers) to distinguish browsers and sessions, as described in section 2. In addition, YouTube may set its own cookies when you play an embedded video.

You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings, and you can block cookies for alvora.llc specifically. Blocking the essential cookie will sign you out; blocking analytics cookies has no effect on how the site works for you.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites. There is still no common industry standard for responding to these signals, and like most websites, alvora.llc does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. The opt-out choices described in section 8 work regardless of your browser's Do Not Track setting. This disclosure is made in accordance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

7. How long we keep information

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists, and deleted when your account is deleted. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and maintain a record of our correspondence, after which they may be deleted. Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for a limited period that we configure there, after which it is deleted or exists only in aggregate reports. Server logs are retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and diagnostics on its standard schedule.

8. Your choices and rights

Access and correction. You can see and update your name and email in your account. For anything else, email us and we will tell you what we hold about you.

Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing info@alvora.llc from your registered address. We will act on the request promptly, ordinarily within two business days, and confirm when it is done. Some residual data may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten on the normal backup cycle.

Analytics opt-out. You can opt out of Google Analytics on all sites with Google's official browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or block analytics cookies for alvora.llc in your browser. The site works exactly the same without them.

Email. We do not send marketing email today. If we ever do, it will be opt-in, with unsubscribe available in every message.

Depending on where you live, you may also have specific legal rights regarding your personal information, such as rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, or to object to certain processing. We honor reasonable requests of this kind from anyone, regardless of where they live and whether a specific law technically applies, because it is the decent way to operate. To exercise any right, email info@alvora.llc; we will verify the request using your registered email address and respond within a reasonable time, ordinarily within two business days. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Visitors from the EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions. Alvora is operated from the United States and directed at a US audience, and information we collect is processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where such laws apply to a visit anyway, our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (providing your account and the courses), our legitimate interests (securing and improving a free service, and measuring aggregate usage), and consent where required. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, though we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information: all traffic to the site is encrypted with HTTPS; passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text; access to our systems is limited to people who need it, behind role-based permissions; and our infrastructure providers maintain their own certified security programs. No website can promise perfect security, but if we ever learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has created an account or given us personal information, contact us at info@alvora.llc and we will delete it promptly.

11. Links to other sites

Our courses and articles link to third-party websites and tools (for example, the official documentation of the AI tools we teach). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add features, change providers, or when the law changes. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will post a clear notice on the site. Two changes we already anticipate and will update this policy for before they happen: the introduction of paid courses (which will add a payment processor), and the introduction of a cookie consent banner for analytics.
